Marmite and Vampire Weekend

People seem to either like them or hate their stupid hipster faces…

I’m in the former camp I think, all seems cheerful and harmless enough to me…

Either way, surely you can appreciate this vid;

Nothing new I wanna flag up today, but two from back in the day, totally unrelated and totally brilliant…..

have a good weekend!

Rox – No Going Back (Guido Remix)

•14/01/2010 • Leave a Comment

The production on the original is very much in the Joss Stone vein, and not of too much interest to me, but Bristol producer Guido (who’s been mentioned here quite a bit) has re-spun it into something far more interesting, in his trademark future-hyper-r&b style… Guido keeps getting mentioned in the same breath as Joker and Gemmy, but tbh I think he’s got the potential to outdo both of them… check it out;

More new stuff from Joy Orbison on the way it seems….

can’t get enough of this sound at the moment, sounds to me like the spirit of original jungle transplanted onto a whole new template.

still probably not really dubstep… OR IS IT?

etc.

FREE South Rakkas Crew album

Diplo’s mob Mad Decent are currently giving away the latest album from Florida based dancehall producers South Rakkas Crew. “The Stimulus Package” features vocal contributions from Capleton and Toddla T cohort Serocee amongst others and sounds pretty damn wicked. Download it here

While you’re at it, you should probably get some actual cash out and get hold of the South Rakkas version of Tricky’s last album “Knowle West Boy”…

equally brilliant as you can hear on their version of “Cross To Bear”

Swamp 81

More great releases coming up from Loefah’s new label. They’ve already released the much rated Kryptic Minds album, but well worth checking out Skream’s forthcoming “Repercussions of a Razorblade” and The Bug feat. Flowdan “Run” both of which are featured on the myspace site.

Very much in the maximum bass pressure and dark as hell direction, both records sound brilliant to these ears at least…..

Squire of Gothos – Gateaux Mix

Ravertastic hands in the air bassline business from the Squire of Gothos over at Mashit. No class at all. Brilliant. Like a bassline version of Shitmat:

enjoy!
